In this article, we will briefly explain the terms used in relation to electric vehicle chargers.
1. PLC: Power Line Communication. It mainly uses the existing power transmission system to transmit carrier signals. At a technical level, the process of PLC realizing information transmission is to modulate the information that needs to be transmitted and load it into the current. The receiver uses different methods to separate the useful information from the current and finally delivers it to the target device.
2. EVCC: Electric Vehicle Communication Controller. EVCC is a device or system used for communication and control between electric vehicles and external charging equipment. It is responsible for managing the interoperability between EVs and charging piles or charging stations, allowing users to charge on different charging infrastructures and achieving a safe, efficient, and reliable charging process.
3. CP Voltage: Control Pilot Voltage. The pilot usually refers to a control or guidance signal in charging protocols. It communicates and regulates the charging process between electric vehicles and charging equipment. Pilot signals convey various information, such as charging mode selection, charging power adjustment, and communication protocol support. It helps ensure proper pairing and smooth charging between the electric vehicle and the charging device.
4. EV status: In the charging protocol, EV status refers to the status of the electric vehicle. It can include the current charging status, charging needs, battery capacity, and other related information about electric vehicles. EV status can be obtained through charging piles or other devices and used to determine appropriate charging strategies and adjust charging parameters to meet the needs of electric vehicles and ensure safe and efficient charging.
5. EV disconnection device: A safety device disconnects electric vehicles from charging equipment under certain circumstances, such as grid failure or emergencies. When the system detects the need to disconnect the electric vehicle, the EV disconnection device will cut off the power supply to ensure the safety of the charging process. This device helps protect the vehicle and charging equipment from possible electric shock or other risks and ensures that the charging process stops correctly.
6. Connect Lock: In the charging protocol, Connector Lock refers to the locking mechanism of the charging connector. It ensures that the charging connector remains securely in place when connected to a charging device or electric vehicle, preventing accidental disconnection or loosening. A connector lock can be a physical, electronic, or combination lock that ensures a safe and reliable charging connection.
